Fredericksburg is known for it's quaint historical homes, seasonal city events, antique shows, several historical museums, is surrounded by four state parks, several Texas wineries, peach orchards and stands, and boasts one of the best golf courses in the area. Abby's recommends:

  • Enchanted Rock - a hike to the top of this limestone dome offers a beautiful view of the hill country and a fun way to spend an afternoon. bring a picnic, camera, and wading shoes!

  • Nimitz Museum - a tribute to hill country native, Admiral Nimitz, the museum is home to relics, memorabilia and tributes to those who fought in the Pacific War.

  • George Bush Gallery - dedicated to and by George and Barbara Bush, this museum is another tribute to those who have fought for their country.

  • Fredericksburg WildSeed Farm - the largest operating wildflower farm in the country. bring your camera, the view is like eye candy.

  • Luckenbach, Texas - "with Waylin and Willie and the boys." Just outside of Fredericksburg, home to Willie Nelson's fourth of July Picnic - for local Texas flavor, don't miss Marge - the sheriff who doubles as the bartender, weekends of sittin' and pickin' guitars around the night fire, or any of the singers/song writer's who pass through for a concert or two. (Jerry Jeff Walker, Monte Montgomery, Pat Green... etc.)

  • Lyndon B. Johnson State Park - still home to Ladybird Johnson and the Johnson's ranch, this park also offers a step back in time at the working pioneer homestead and a tribute to Lyndon Johnson and his presidency.

  • Fredericksburg Municipal Golf Course - With a brand new club house, this 18 hole course and driving range cannot promise to improve your game, but for golf enthusiasts, it will promise to complete your visit to Fredericksburg.

  • Willow City Loop - rivers of bluebonnets, this drive is great for taking in the local landscape - wildflowers, deer and the abundance of spring
